First round of new tunes is here (essentially)
hey :)
wanna start by saying, thanks so much for reading this. it’s amazing that i can provide something somewhat beneficial to you in this way of sharing early and vulnerable versions of my tunes.
kind of a unique set up we have here really…
anyway, i’ve been promoting the hell out of haha yeah for about a year now and it’s been very great, but it’s elevated a lot of what i’m doing in a way that also makes it more busy! it’s really not a problem though, i’ve been able to get some songs started even in the midst of it and there’s a few standouts so far.
”make it right” is the one that’s got me hooked for whatever reason. i can tell it might be my favorite on the album it ends up on. sometimes you just know these things
”i always knew that you needed me” was something that came over me out of nowhere about a year ago now. i thought it was a throwaway, but now i’m earnestly feeling like it will be my smash hit. not even joking!! also, it made me nearly cry once. it’s weirdly a scary song for me.
”wrapped in the dollar” i wrote for my songwriting class with David Longstreth last year, and it seemed like a fun enough song on guitar but couldn’t really envision it as a production. then i got that triplet synth thing in mind and decided to explore it…much up in the air with this one but i think it’s cool enough…don’t want it to end up cheesy
”When You Enter this World” came together totally randomly one night, and then it just became an exercise of “how long can this environment last”…i don’t think it will be JUST this, but i’m struggling to view verses in between it. so i’m feeling like it’s actually a bridge or a second half of another song entirely. weird right? again, sometimes you just know these things
i hope you dig them all. feel free to scour the studio journal as a whole!
